A brief history of NGO
A Micro Neurosurgery laboratory was initiated and state-of-the-art Deep Brain Stimulation (Brain Pacemaker for treating Parkinson’s patients) was done in a public hospital for the first time in India. Through the Pediatric Neurosurgery Section & aegis of Mr. Vincent, the concept of a Child-Friendly ward was introduced in Municipality Hospitals.

After 2002, the focus of work shifted to the Western side of Mumbai and involved work in noted public institutions like Jain Health Centre, Dadar, Mahavir Clinic, Malad, Bhagwati Hospital, Borivali, Manav Kalyan Kendra, Dahisar & Sanjeevani Hospital (Vivekanand Mission) Virar. In the meanwhile, the Neuro Health Foundation was formally registered with the Mumbai Charity Commissioner in 2009 with its office in Borivali West.
In collaboration with another medical NGO, the Red Swastik Society of India, rural camps were held in Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Nashik, Nandurbar, Nanded, Nagpur, Ramtek & Chalisgaon. Regular independent Neuro, Spine & Pain Camps were conducted for nearly 10 yrs in Dharavi, Wadala, Worli (BDD Chawl), Malad, Kandivli (Gurudwaras), Mira-Bhayandar (Pandit Bhimsen Joshi General Hospital), Thane, Palghar (Dhawale Homeopathic Hospital), Vasai (D M Petit Municipal Village Hospital), Virar, Nalasopara in association with local social workers.
Nearly 95,000 poor & needy patients benefitted from Neurological Consultation & Surgery over this long journey of 25 yrs.
The NHF aspires to reach common people at the grassroot level and convey the benefits of advanced neurological science and surgery at very affordable rates. It is estimated that nearly one-fourth of Mumbai's 2.16 crore population is afflicted with neurological and spine disorders. NHF focuses on disorders such as headaches, migraines, vertigo, spondylosis, neuralgias, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, dementia, neurodevelopmental disorders in children, head and spine injury, peripheral neuropathy, and others.
